Balance has integrated Membrane Labs into its institutional custody platform, connecting digital asset loan management and collateral workflows for assets custodied at Balance Trust Company.
For institutions using Membrane, the integration supports digital asset credit workflows without requiring assets to leave custody. Loan teams can manage loan records, collateral monitoring, margin activity, lifecycle events and reporting around assets held at Balance, Canada’s oldest and largest digital asset custodian.
This is especially important as institutional lending expands beyond one-off digital asset loans and into repeatable credit operations. Credit teams need more than custody access. They need loan management software, collateral management workflows and operating records that stay connected across borrowers, lenders and custodians.
Membrane’s platform helps institutions manage the loan lifecycle for digital asset credit. That includes loan booking, collateral monitoring, borrower and lender records, margin workflows, lifecycle events and reporting. The integration with Balance brings those workflows closer to assets held in qualified custody.
For clients working with digital asset collateral or tokenized collateral, the result is a more connected operating process.
“Institutions don’t just need a place to custody assets. They need the workflows around those assets to hold up as credit activity grows,” said Carson Cook, Founder of Membrane Labs. “We’re delighted to support Balance as they bring loan management closer to qualified custody for institutional clients.”
